FAQ

Quick answers to common questions about the Sign Generator.

How do I make the sign an exact size?

There's no width/height box — the sign automatically wraps around your content. To hit a target size, watch the measurement lines around the sign in the 3D preview while adjusting the text Size and the padding sliders. See Sign shape & size.

Do I need a multi-color printer?

No. You have three options:

  1. Multi-material printer (AMS, MMU and similar) — import all the files, assign each part a filament, print in one go. This is the setup the printing guide shows.
  2. Single-color printer with a filament swap — when your colored elements sit above the sign surface (raised or flush), the color only changes at one layer height. Most slicers let you insert a "pause / change filament" at that layer, so you swap the spool once mid-print.
  3. One color only — a single-color sign with raised or engraved elements still looks great; the depth alone makes it readable.

Can I save my sign? Do I need an account?

No account — your design is saved in the page's link as you edit. Bookmark the page or copy the link with the Share button to come back to it later. See Saving & sharing.

My export has no QR code on the back. Why?

Three possibilities: the QR code on back toggle was off in the export window; the sign was too small or too thin to fit a scannable code (the editor shows a note when that's the case); or the design couldn't be stored online at that moment — the files still download, just without the code. Just export again with the toggle on.

My text looks too thin to print. What can I do?

Printers draw with a nozzle around 0.4 mm wide, so hairline-thin letters lose detail. Make the text bigger, choose a bolder Weight in the font picker, or pick a chunkier font. The same goes for outline-style icons — making them larger thickens their lines.

Why can't I lower the Height of my outline icon below zero?

Outline icons (the ones drawn with thin lines) can't be engraved into the sign — they can only sit flush or raised. Switch the icon to its Filled style if you want it recessed. See Icons.

Will the QR code on my sign actually scan?

Yes, if it's big enough and has good contrast — and you can verify before printing: zoom in on the 3D preview and scan the code straight off your screen with your phone. Tips in QR codes.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The editor runs in the browser on phones and tablets — the preview sits on top and the controls below. Use two fingers to rotate and zoom the preview.

Which printers and slicers are supported?

All of them. The export is plain STL files, the universal 3D-printing format — Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Cura, OrcaSlicer and online print services all accept it.

Is my design private?

Your design lives in your link; only people you give the link to can open it. If you export with the QR code on back enabled, the design is also stored online under a long random ID so the printed code can find it — that ID appears only in the QR code on the back of your printed sign.
